Set after the events of Ip Man 3, this film may not have Donnie Yen who produced but does not appear onscreen but it still boasts top action pedigree. Since his duel with Ip Man, Cheung Tin Chi (Max Zhang) has left his fighting days behind & settled down to an ordinary life with his son. One day, he runs into debt-ridden opium addict Nana (Chrissie Chau) & single-handedly saves her from a gang of goons sent out by Tso Sai Kit (Kevin Cheng). In retaliation, the mobster burns down Tin Chis home & shop. Kits older sister Kwan (Michelle Yeoh), who is transitioning the family syndicate to legal business, tries to settle the dispute peacefully. However, Kit seeks further revenge & expands into drug dealing, forcing Tin Chi to take action.
